The Florida Citrus Clean Plant Center is situated within the Bureau of Budwood Registration as part of the Florida Department of Agriculture-Division of Plant Industry. In 2023, the Bureau underwent a significant transformation in its leadership structure, marking a new era of optimism and innovation. Justin Ezell has assumed the role of bureau chief, bringing with him a fresh perspective and strategic vision to guide us into the future.
This transition was accompanied by the appointment of three individuals into key roles within the organization. Taylor Smith stepped into the role of administrator of all FL Citrus Clean Plant Center activities, including overseeing pathogen diagnostics, therapy, and the introduction and certification of new varieties.
Ajia Paolillo has taken charge of all citrus nursery inspection, monitoring commercial citrus nursery activities and overseeing citrus nursery and bureau records. Steve Hildebrandt has assumed the position of planning chief, spearheading projects and initiatives to further the Center’s mission.
With this new leadership team at the helm, staff reports itis energized and optimistic about the future of the Bureau of Citrus Budwood Registration. Team members are poised to embrace new challenges, foster innovation, and continue their commitment to providing the highest quality clean citrus germplasm.
