FY2023 NCPN - Berries Core Goals & Objectives 

Centers are committed to the core goals of the network to meet the needs of the berry industries in the U.S. to facilitate trade. Centers are also fully aligned with the goals of the Berries Strategic Plan that was finalized in July 2023. 

 

Core Goal: Optimize the production, maintenance, and distribution of clean plants 

 

Objective 1: Maintain and distribute G1 foundation stock & advanced breeding selections

 

Objective 2:  Retest G1 foundation & test pre G1 material (advanced breeding selections)

 

Objective 3: Hold CIP and provide service for diagnostic testing and release of new genotypes. 

 

Objective 4: Use therapeutics to eliminate target pathogens from commercially important genotypes in Fragaria, Rubus, Vaccinium, Ribes, Lonicera and Sambucus

 

Objective 5: Provide diagnostic services to support stakeholders as needed to meet their needs for phytosanitary requirements
